From surviving to thriving
What began as a personal journey a decade ago to understand stress and chronic health conditions like depression, burnout, and PTSD became a design exploration into how we can unlock our innate potential for health and well-being through holistic, non-invasive, and self-empowering approaches.
Aveo blends light and sound therapy with mindfulness practices into a home wellness companion, using advanced bio- and brainwave sensing technologies and AI-powered guidance to help users identify and treat the roots of their personal health challenges.
The result stands as a reflection of my vision for what design can do: translating complex concepts and subjective human experiences into tangible, meaningful products.
My thesis project allowed me to explore bridges: between personal values and professional purpose, ancient wisdom and modern technology, between cultures and mindsets, and between the conventional and the new.
The Umeå Institute of Design, UID, selected my Master's project to represent this year's graduates from the Advanced Product Design Programme. Watch the interview and read more about my journey and the design process in the UID newsroom.
Design
Aveo is a fusion of art, technology, and ritual.
It was designed to convey the trust, precision, and reliability of a smart medical device, while feeling as natural, calming, and personal as a well-being companion—something that naturally integrates into the home, both functionally and emotionally.
The form draws from nature’s harmony and structural intelligence. Inspired by the Golden Ratio and Fibonacci sequence, its asymmetric proportions create a sense of intuitive balance.
At the heart of the design, an illuminated cavity brings the functional elements together, with light acting as the life-giving force that connects all parts. The soft wave form reflects the rhythms of both our inner and outer worlds: from planetary motion and spiralling shapes found in shells, trees, and tides, to the invisible patterns of sound waves, brainwaves, and heartbeats. This connection to nature is reinforced by a rough, organic texture that celebrates imperfection and individuality. Form and function are deeply intertwined: the practice pebble and journal pen nest seamlessly into the speaker base, while the tactile volume dial remains accessible even during meditation with closed eyes. Every element is designed to feel grounded, intuitive, and human.
Aveo is more than a device — it creates a personal wellness space. It invites stillness, trust, and connection, bridging ancient wisdom with contemporary technology.
